Six Years Worth of Blogging Almost Went Down the Drain

10:47 AM

I have been through quite an ordeal.

A while back my blog got hacked. I fixed it, but not before I got blacklisted. Because I got blacklisted I lost my domain name.

Around the same time I was losing my hosting. I had backups of my posts but they wouldn't import in to Blogger, even with the use of a converter.

What did I do? I had to set up a new domain name for the old website, set the new site name in Wordpress' config files, re-backup my blog posts year by year, convert each new backup, and upload each new backup to Blogger.

This was an ordeal because I'm not familiar with the xml system that Wordpress and Blogger employs. I've always kept backups of the database for Wordpress so things like size weren't so much of an issue. Even if size was an issue I at least knew what to do about it.

Now that it's done, I think I'm going to stay a while. Call me crazy but I like Blogger. It's a lot simpler to work with than Wordpress, loads faster, is less risky, and best of all it's free.

I'm going to be purchasing a new domain name for the site in about a week. In the mean time, kick back and relax. Browse through the archives a little... there's 6 years worth of posts on here about all kinds of things, even some poetry. Don't let that be all for nothing, LOL.

I'm definitely going to do something else now. It will not involve computers, needless to say. :P
